Rizky Zen, M.T., successfully completed the Trainers Academy last week (13/10), received his certification as an OpenLCA trainer from GreenDelta GmbH, and made history by becoming the first qualified trainer from Southeast Asia. This accreditation also encourages cooperation between Ailesh and GreenDelta in enhancing knowledge management for life cycle initiatives in Indonesia and increasing LCA services. OpenLCA is an impact assessment modeling and computation tool. Since it is open-source, inspecting the code for any potential problems, including security weaknesses and malicious behavior is simple. This tool has been rapidly improved in terms of user experience, the reliability of the results, and the database package, adding more relevant information, updating risk levels, fixing minor bugs, and high-performance data intensive. Because of this, open-source software is also suitable for use in extremely sensitive fields.

We are on a sustainability journey with LCA as a fuel
Since 2019, we always brought LCA as a key tool in driving sustainability projects. We understand that not all customers have the same environmental challenges.
In 2020, With a strong commitment to supporting the environmental improvement journey, together with our client, PT Indonesia Power, we conducted our first LCA project for electricity products from the power generation sector. We helped 13 power generation units in total, consisting of several types of power plants such as steam power plants, gas power plants, combined-cycle power plants, hydropower plants, and geothermal power plants
In 2021, Through the enactment of Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 1 of 2021 regarding the Company Environmental Performance Rating Program, or PROPER, by adding LCA as one of its aspects, we received an increase in requests for LCA consultancy. In order to support more comprehensive, high-quality LCA while at the same time being more time-efficient and easier to understand, we started to conduct LCA with the help of openLCA software and the commercial Eco-invent database to support background data.
We continued our journey in 2022 by helping more companies implement the LCA for their products and identify potential environmental improvement programs such as minimizing resource consumption, increasing efficiency, and reducing emissions to achieve more sustainable business, not only for PROPER. We marked our highest achievement of doing LCA consultancy by helping one of our clients from the power generation sector become the very first in Indonesia to obtain the Ecolabel Type III of EPD from the International EPD System.
In 2023, With our new spirit as “your sustainability partner”, we are committed to helping companies not only in Indonesia but also from Southeast Asia to achieve their sustainability. The LCA is still our main tool to help companies identify potential environmental impacts throughout their entire life cycle and improve their environmental performance. We start this year with our first international client from Malaysia to help them implement the Life Cycle Assessment and together with their sustainability team develop a report as required by their customer.
