This document has been prepared by Ailesh (PT Cipta Inovasi Berkelanjutan) and PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow (JRBM) for submission to the PROPER Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The scope and methodology of this study were systematically determined based on discussions with the Rohul Sawit Industri team. The data used in this study were collected by the Energy Management Team of PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow and supplemented with measurements conducted by Ailesh’s energy audit team.

Activity Description

PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow (JRBM) is a company engaged in gold ore mining and processing. As a subsidiary of J Resources Nusantara (JRN), JRBM manages a contract area covering 58,150 hectares, which includes two main locations: Bakan Block and North Lanut Block in North Sulawesi Province. To enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, the company has partnered with Ailesh to conduct an energy audit, identifying potential energy-saving opportunities in its operational facilities.

The audit covered both electrical and thermal systems.

• For the electrical system, energy consumption was monitored across high-usage areas, identified through discussions between the Energy Audit Team and company management. Data was recorded from the Main Distribution Panel (MDP) in each building, covering parameters such as current, voltage, active power, reactive power, apparent power, power factor, total harmonic distortion (THD) for current and voltage.
• For the thermal system, the audit focused on key equipment such as smelters and calcine ovens. Data collection included parameters like inlet-outlet temperatures and fuel flow rates, analyzed to identify efficiency improvement opportunities.

Key Energy Efficiency Opportunities Identified:

✅ Power factor optimization, with a potential energy saving of 3% through improved electrical distribution efficiency.
✅ Installation of a recuperator, which enables heat recovery from flue gas to preheat combustion air for the smelter, with an energy-saving potential of 12%.

This energy audit provides strategic insights for PT J Resources Bolaang Mongondow, enabling the company to manage its energy consumption more efficiently and sustainably. Implementing the recommended measures will not only reduce operational costs but also support the company’s decarbonization targets and contribute to a more environmentally responsible mining industry.
